Lauren Akins and Thomas Rhett were recently spotted at the Grammys. They were asked about their daughters. The two have one adopted daughter and one biological daughter. They were asked if they had any advice for parents who want to adopt a child. Lauren spoke openly about the adoption process.
She admitted that it was one of the hardest things she has had to go through. She stated that you have to fight for the baby. Lauren also stated that bringing your baby home is a challenge.
However, Lauren stated that adoption is worth it. She stated that she and her husband have gotten closer since the adoption. Thomas’s album “Life Changes” was nominated for a Grammy. However, the couple did not care about whether they won. They feel like they have already won because they have the family they always wanted.
Willa, who is the couple’s oldest daughter, was adopted in May 2017. She was adopted from Uganda. Ada James is five-months old. Lauren stated that Willa was jealous of Ada at first, but she loves her sister. Ada was born three months after the couple finalized the adoption.
Thomas and Lauren have known each other since the sixth grade. They married on October 12, 2012. The two had dated for six months before getting engaged. Thomas admitted that they both almost got married to other people.
Many people objected to Lauren and Thomas getting married because they were only 22-years-old at the time. However, they were in love and knew it was the right thing to do. Thomas is on the road a lot and takes his family with him. In fact, Lauren spent 285 days on the road with her husband the first year that they were married.
